Recipient and Great Grandson thanking Cresswind Community Fund
Recipient’s two grandchildren thanking Cresswind Community Fund

The Grandparents Raising Grandchildren program provides one-time emergency financial support to grandparents raising grandchildren.  This occurs when the grandparents have been hit by circumstances which have caused them to get behind in their financial obligations.  This can occur when an illness happens, when a job changes, a large repair is necessary or other unexpected circumstances occur.

All potential candidates are interviewed in person and their needs are assessed. Recommendations are made to the Community Fund’s Board of Directors for funding approval.

This program covers expenses such as rent or mortgage payments, utility payments, car payments or other basic necessities.  Payments are made directly to the provider and not to the grandparent.  This emergency aid keeps the family from being evicted, going without utilities, without a car to get to their job, or other basic needs.

The primary requirements for assistance include grandparents who are:

  • Experiencing a financial hardship
  • Hall County residents
  • Legal guardian or similar status to their grandchildren
  • Stable
